Published Works by Douglas V. Gibbs:
Never Ending Road , shortstory/legend submission, www.urbanlegendsonline.com, submitted June, 2005. Appeared on website November 16, 2005 through present.
Baseball is a place where memory gathers... , shortstory, CBSportsline.com Fantasy Baseball League News, June 16, 2001 and March 24, 2002; and at ArmChairGM.com September 13, 2006.
Peaceful Advice , poem, A BREAK IN THE CLOUDS, page 591, Poetry compilation by The National Library of Poetry, 1993. Yes, I know it was just a ruse to get me to buy their book. It was the first time a work of mine actually appeared in print. I'm still proud and happy that it happened. Let me relish the moment.
Current Works actively seeking publication
The Way of Deception query mailings and e-mails began on May 7, 2006. The name has recently changed in an effort to divorce it from the thought that it is just a book poking fun at The Da Vinci Code, even though one of its aims is to challenge the very ideas floating around out there as a result of deceptions like Dan Brown's book.

Current Submissions Out There In Review Land:
A Light in the Shadow , Novel, was represented by a literary agency last year but found no publishing home. All 2006 queries have been rejected but a small handful. Rather than resubmit to other agencies, I am going to let her rest for a while, and see how my newest work does.

Current Works in Progress:
Somatic was written back in 2003. In fact, four drafts worth. However, after a few years of thinking about it, there are going to be some major changes. The story is sound, but concentrates too much on a singular event, and more than that one episode needs to haunt my character. I want his past to catch up to him from many directions - so much so, that he is constantly on the run, fleeing from a daunting past, and his looming insanity. In tune with my current book out there searching for an agent, THE WAY OF DECEPTION , Somatic is going to also employ a government conspiracy - - but that is a minor portion of the story, only adding to the questions that will only be answered when the reader reaches the final chapter.

Political Pistachio: Named after my blogosphere renowned blog by the same name, the book is currently in the first draft writing stages. The first handful of chapters have been clumsily written, but are coming out suprisingly well. During the planning stages of this book I thought to myself, why not write a political satire? I love to write about politics. I love to talk about politics. I really know my politics. And, of course, sometimes I can be a relatively funny guy - so along comes Political Pistachio. Besides, I've had this idea, sort of, for a while, and the characters have been forming for years. Might as well get them down on paper.

LIGHTS AND SHADOWS OF MORMONISM - In 1906 my great grandfather wrote this book after leaving the church. The Church of Latter Day Saints, threatened by this written work, bought most of the copies and burned them. I would like to re-publish the book with a forward and afterward written by myself and possibly other members of the family explaining what led him to writing the book in the first place, and the repercussions of it.
FROGS IN A POND - One of my fondest projects, a coming of age novel set in the late 1970's concerned with growing up in the big city. My list of characters is populated by an ecclectic group of pre-teens and teens. Synopsis and many scenerios have already been written.
INLAND EMPIRE - A non-fiction endeavor regarding the vernacular region in Southern California by the same name. The project began in 1999, and most of the research is complete. It's just a matter of writing it.
STORYLINE - Original Idea and Synopsis on November 6, 2004. This idea trifles with the premise of plagerism - and how a writer deals with the problem when he discovers what is happening.
I, WITHIN - Original Idea and Synopsis 7-25-2003. Congenital Twins with a twist.
MYSTIC, OREGON - February 24, 2004. Lead character is not what he thought he was, and the family knew it all along...
EVERYONE'S GAME - based on my daughter's baseball abilities. Tweaked mostly in May of 2001. Everyone's Game allows a female to enter Major League Baseball, and it is hell for her because of the male-dominated attitude of the sport. See the book hopefully within the decade.
PIRATE TALE - 2003, TO NOW...Research complete, Synopsis complete, some scenerios complete. Toying with certain characters. Project I play with when the main one is driving me mad.
LESTER ROAD - Sara Parkeson, much younger than in A Light in the Shadow (in fact she is but a teen in this novel), is faced with an Urban Legend. She and Brad investigates, and is pulled into the horror lying at the end of a never ending road.
SOPHIA - The real story behind Brad's death (based on characters introduced in A LIGHT IN THE SHADOW), and a more detailed account of Sara's tumble into misery.
PRISM OF LIFE - Loosely based upon my Navy years, my relationship with my father, my relationship with my Marine Corps step-dad, and the early years of my marriage.
